Overview

While a student at the University of Pittsburgh, I had the opportunity to gain employment at the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business in their IT department as a Junior Technical Analyst. I held the role twice, from January 2014 to October 2016, and again from January 2017 - April 2017 (when I graduated).

Through this job, I earned valuable skills, both technical and interpersonal, that have allowed for me to succeed in my more recent jobs. One of the things I prided myself in during my time at Katz was visibility. While I was only a student employee, I often times would work with faculty members in their offices instead of just working in the shop or help desk like most of the other student employees. Doing this allowed for me to build trust with the faculty an allow them to feel comfortable working with me to solve their technology related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Interacted with over three hundred faculty, staff, and students to solve their IT related problems

  • Assisted in ensuring continued operation of technology enhanced classrooms

  • Performed preventative and emergency maintenance on printers

  • Assisted in training new student employees
